I GREW UP AT & WITH 5 MILE POINT SPEEDWAY (WE'RE THE SAME AGE) IN
KIRKWOOD, NY.  MY FATHER HAD AN AUTO JUNKYARD WHEN I WAS A KID & THE
TRACK WAS JUST A MILE DOWN THE ROAD.  SO, A NUMBER OF CARS WERE
FIELDED FROM OUR YARD, THE MOST MEMORABLE TO ME WAS THE ORIGINAL
#44, A '34 FORD 3 WINDOW COUPE DRIVEN BY DON YEINGST IN THE EARLY
'60S.  I SPENT SUMMER NIGHTS HELPING REPAIR THE CAR (S) FOR THE
UPCOMING SATURDAY NIGHT BATTLES.

I REPLICATED THE CAR, TAKING SIX
YEARS IN THE PROCESS & BEGAN
RACING IT IN 2000.  THE '34 BODY IS
ORIGINALLY FROM  A JOE NORTON
OWNED & RAY BUNZY DRIVEN CAR
WHICH WERE NUMBERS 10 & 30 AND,
AT ONE TIME, A #43 BLACK BODY AND
GOLD ROOF & CHECKERED FLAGS
BEHIND THE NUMBERS ON THE DOORS.

MY MOST NOTBALE RACING
ACCOMPLISHEMNT IS GETTING ON & OFF
THE TRACK IN ONE PIECE.  I RACED
GO-KARTS AS A YOUNG TEENAGER.  I
HAVEN'T WON A THING IN MY VINTAGE
RACER BUT EVERY TIME I PULL ONTO THE
TRACK YOU SHOULD SEE THE SMILE UNDER
MY HELMET.
