6/26/08 I've been remiss in reminding readers that our club will be
at 5 Mile Point this coming Saturday the 28th for the Heath Memorial races.
At this point we have confirmed that we'll have Chuck Akulis, Don Beagell,
and Carl Nagel (plus who ever we can find) driving our cars during the
intermission for an exhibition. A former racers reuinion has been planned by
track and it should be a great time. On Sunday the club travles to Utica-Rome
Speedway for NYSSCA night and a club display, should be a great weekend.

Lastly, on a sad note, Bob Merz passed away on Feb. 19 and Dick Clark passed on
Feb. 28. Both were fierce competitors and by all accounts, very well liked and nice
men. We wish to offer our condolences to both the Merz and Clark families.

We're sorry to hear of the passing of one of the Southern Tier racing's fixtures
Bob Whitman. Bob organized Raceworld events, drove pacecars, gave out
candy and assisted in any way he could at local events, he passed this past
Tuesday at age 62. Signing in at 5 Mile won't be the same without Bob, we offer
our condolences to his family.

reunion as below.
CUBA LAKE RACEWAY 5th annual 50's stock car racing luncheon
This is your invitation to attend this annual CLR luncheon for all those that
remember or have a love of stock car racing from those wonderful 50s and 60s. Over
50 drivers and other personnel that raced at CLR along with other tracks from that
era are all coming. Drivers from Ohio, Nevada, Florida, Ontario and many points in
NYS and PA are coming. Many drivers that made their stardom in the 60s are also
coming. The past CLR luncheons have become very popular with the whole stock car
racing world it seems. Because of the popularity we are having this years luncheon
at Moonwinks again, just north of Cuba, NY. This is your chance to be with and talk
with these greats from that era of stock car racing.
When: July 25th 2007 (Wed), Reservations deadline is July 7th. Cost is $14.00 per

Lastly, on a sad note, Bob Merz passed away on Feb. 19 and Dick Clark passed on

men. We wish to offer our condolences to both the Merz and Clark families.

We're sorry to hear of the passing of one of the Southern Tier racing's fixtures
Bob Whitman. Bob organized Raceworld events, drove pacecars, gave out
candy and assisted in any way he could at local events, he passed this past
Tuesday at age 62. Signing in at 5 Mile won't be the same without Bob, we offer
our condolences to his family.

Received word from Ford Easton in relation to the upcoming Cuba Lake
reunion as below.
CUBA LAKE RACEWAY 5th annual 50's stock car racing luncheon
This is your invitation to attend this annual CLR luncheon for all those that
remember or have a love of stock car racing from those wonderful 50s and 60s. Over
50 drivers and other personnel that raced at CLR along with other tracks from that
era are all coming. Drivers from Ohio, Nevada, Florida, Ontario and many points in
NYS and PA are coming. Many drivers that made their stardom in the 60s are also
coming. The past CLR luncheons have become very popular with the whole stock car
racing world it seems. Because of the popularity we are having this years luncheon
at Moonwinks again, just north of Cuba, NY. This is your chance to be with and talk
with these greats from that era of stock car racing.
When: July 25th 2007 (Wed), Reservations deadline is July 7th. Cost is $14.00 per
