RICHARD ACKERMAN IS THE DRIVER OF THIS CAR.  THIS IS A FAMILY
AFFAIR SO THE ENTIRE FAMILY WOULD BE RECOGNIZED AS THE
MECHANICS & PIT CREW.
MY RACING CAREER STARTED IN 1954 AT  MORRIS AND BROOOKFIELD
LOCAL TEXACO STATION OWNER, HERMAN STRAIN, DONATED A 1941 FORD
COUPE TO A GROUP OF YOUNG BOYS, WE PAINTED IT THE #V8 AND RAN IT
IN  THE B-CLASS FOR ABOUT 3 YRS.  IN 1958 I STARTED PITTING ON THE #43
AT WILLIE WUSTS GARAGE IN EDMESTON, NY.  WE RAN THE FLATHEAD
UNTIL IN 1965 WE BUILT A 1937 FORD COUPE #88 WITH A 289 OVERHEAD
VALVE ENGINE.  WE RAN THIS THROUGH INTO THE '68 SEASON & THEN
SOLD IT TO RUDY SCHLAEFER OF BRIDGEWATER, NY.  THAT CAR WAS
DESTROYED BY BILL  SALAMACHA IN 1969 & REPLACED BY A 1937 CHEVY
COUPE, ALSO #88.  THIS ORIGINAL CHEVY BODY WAS RESTORED BY RALPH
RAASTAD IN 1983.  THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL CAR THAT STARTED THE
MIDSTATE ANTIQUE STOCK CAR CLUB.
