~ Otto Graham's Golden Oldies ~
My longtime friend Otto Graham started racing in the mid 1950's at Willy Wust's
garage in Edmeston NY. He cut his teeth on tracks such as Brookfield and Morris
racing a 1934 Ford, flathead powered coupe before graduating on to the
sportsman ranks at Fonda. There he witnessed first hand the Golden Age of
Stock Car Racing, swapping paint and stories with the likes of Jeep Herbert, Ken
Shoemaker, Bill Wimble, Steve Danish, Lou Lazzaro and the driver he considered
the best of all - Pete Corey. Otto's racing efforts were rewarded in 2005 with an
induction into the CNY Hall of Fame but his greatest contribution may well have
been his Website - Racing on the Net. If you saw the site you will know what I
mean, it was simply wonderful and captured much of the early racing action at
Fonda as well as other New York racing venues. Unfortunately, the site was lost
a few months ago due to circumstances beyond Otto's control and he was unable
to resurrect it - however, he's graciously agreed to allow us to post some of his
material here. It'll take a while of course but hopefully we can recapture much of
the history displayed on his site. Thanks Otto!

~ Jeep Herbert Photo's ~
We'll start with photo's contributed by Clay Herbert
which captures his father Howrd 'Jeep' Herbert at
Fonda and other venues in the 50's and 60's.
