DON ELLIOT #24
#24, Jeff Ackermans home
THIS 1934 FORD 5 WINDOW COUPE WAS DRIVEN BY DON ELLIOT IN
1964 AND 1965 AT PENN-CAN SPEEDWAY IN SUSQUEHNNA, PENN.
EQUIPPED WITH A 21 STUD, STOCK FLATHEAD AND OLDSMOBILE
CARB, DON WAS VERY COMPETITIVE AT THE CAN KNOCKING DOWN  A
FEW HEAT AND FEATURE WINS. THE CAR WAS 'DELICIOUSLY' CRUDE
AND TYPICAL OF IT'S TIME. HE LATER SOLD IT TO A MAN NAMED
HENDERSON IN ORDER TO BUILD A '32 COUPE, THE 'U-HAUL SPECIAL'
WHICH HE RAN AT SHANGRI-LA PRIOR TO SELLING IT TO GLENN
KNAPP OF JOHSON CITY. THE '34 LATER ENDED UP AT CHUCK AKULIS
SHOP IN WINDSOR, NY WHERE FRIEND MEL OGDEN BEAT US TO IT BY
ABOUT TWO WEEKS WAY BACK IN 1983. WE'VE KEPT TRACK OF IT
SINCE AND ALWAYS PLANTED THE SEED WITH MEL THAT IF HE WAS
EVER TO PART WITH IT...WE'D BE INTERESTED.

COMPETITON WITH THE MASCC IN 1985. MEL LATER
RETURNED THE CAR TO IT'S ORIGINAL COLORS AND
DISPLAYED IT AT THE DIRT HOF IN WEEDSPORT FOR YEARS.
WHEN IT CAME TIME TO BRING IT HOME HE DECIDED HE
WANTED TO TRADE IT FOR OUR RECENTLY FOUND CHUCK

CROSLEY BODIED #115 AND WANTED THE PAIR. THE TRADE
WAS MADE IN FALL OF 2004 TO BOTH OF OUR SATISFACTION.
