Spring Meeting 2009.
Our club's spring meeting was
held at Mike Newell's
residence in Morris, NY on
March 21, 2009. An apt
setting, not a stones throw
from Midstate Speedway in
Mikes' 'playhouse' - a nicely
appointed room filled with
racing models and memorbilia.
Bringing donuts was a popular
move and we quickly got down
to the business of serious
bullshitting prompting newly
appointed master of arms
John Mason to bark "THE
MEETING WILL NOW COME
TO ORDER!" Ok, jeeze... first
order of business was what to
do with the extra donuts and
we had many volunteers
willing to risk eating them..
Onto the secretary's report
where we rehashed last years
gathering at C.R.A.P.
Speedway and all agreed that
the hamburgers could've been
prepared a little better as the
'meat packer' was a little too
gnereous with the portions - I
explained that the fact was
that I was getting sick of
making burgers so they got
progessivley bigger as the
session wore on...other than
that though we agreed it was a
great time. Running the cars
for the better part of the
afternoon and giving 'kiddie'
rides (it was noted that some
of the 'kids' were rather large,
and old..) was a blast. We've
agreed to doit again this
coming year and I related that
after much thought and plans
of discing the track and rolling
it, possible expansion etc. that
after consultation with my
advisors, have decided not to
change a thing and rather
leave the track short and
rough. Just like the old days.
The only upkeep it will get this
summer is mowing and I'll
shovel up the manure prior to
the event - that's it.
   The treasurers report was
next and we still have money
but no account.....the
treasurer is keeping it in a
jar...and if there was any
problem with that...there was
going to be a new
treasurer...there were no
comments...
   For Old business we
discussed last years schedule
and car counts and agreed
that all shows were fun and
favorable. Onto New Business
we first discussed dues for
2009 and since we have
enough in the treasury to
cover our expenses (mainly
this websites hosting fees) for
the next two years plus - we
have waived dues for this year.
This was met with some
trepidation but I assured
members that if we needed
money for anything, then we'd
raise it at the appropriate
time. We discussed our
schedule next and it is, as far
as I'm concerned, a fine one
filled with many drivers
re-unions and enjoyable
venues. We will be supporting
the NVDMRC at Afton a few
times this year, returning to
Fonda for the first time in
many years, a mid week show
at Utica-Rome for Bill Wimble
night, the 45th Heath
Memorial @ 5MP, the Legends
of Penn Can honoring recently
passed promoter Stewart Rice,
car shows at Norwich, Little
Valley and Brookfield,
Collectible shows at 07 Racing
and Craigs Motorsports and of
course the Otsego Cty Fair and
CNY HOF events at Midstate
Speedway - a full schdule. We
start next week at the Seven
Valley Motorsport Expo in
Cortland with Jim Chase
representing the club. For
racing, members have their
chioce of joining either the
NVDMRC or MVSCC club's
events which were also
discussed.
From there we got into the
website briefly and agreed or
path was true. Meeting was
adjorned shortly after and we
got back to the real bs'ing. As
well as Debbie Newell's
excellent mac and cheese -
thanks to Mike and Debbie for
hosting the meeting, it was
perfect and a great way to kick
off the season. See you at the
shows in 2009.
Spring Meeting.
